Our services

We work with public and private sponsors and elementary and secondary schools to generate appreciation for attendance and build capacity in the school team to promote it and address chronic absenteeism at all levels.

Lines of work

The key is in the accompaniment! Biweekly meetings with the school’s attendance committee, in charge of leading the implementation of the program. Attendance monitoring without double typing, thanks to the alliance with the Radar ® platform.
We develop capacity! Practical workshops for all school employees, aimed at developing competencies to promote attendance and address absenteeism.
We promise families! Workshops to involve and engage parents of truant students as well as general awareness workshops on school attendance.
We empower teachers! Modeling and providing resources for head teachers to reflect with their students and parents.
We make noise! Graphic material for 3 campaigns that promote the valuation of school attendance at the most critical times of the year.

Preventive and universal approach:

We work with the tiered approach of Hedy Chang, founder of Attendance Works, an initiative that addresses chronic absenteeism. 3 levels of strategies, starting from the bottom of the pyramid:

  1. Universal: prevention of absenteeism throughout the school community.
  2. Intervention: support for students at risk of exclusion.
  3. Rescue: of students who have been excluded from the system.

Pedagogical and valuation focus:

We have changed the administrative view of assistance for the conviction that it is the basis of formation and, therefore, all members of the community are responsible for taking care of it and promoting it.

Capacity building:

We leave installed capacity so that school teams can deal with absenteeism and promote attendance with a pedagogical approach autonomously.

Approach

Most schools promote attendance by giving out prizes that are only capable of motivating attendance in the short term.

Cakes, bicycles and candy run out quickly, so at Presente we work on developing intrinsic motivation and appreciation for learning.
