Mr. Director,
We deeply empathize with those parents and guardians who were willing to stand in long lines and even camp outside the schools in order to get a place for their children in schools of excellence. We know that quality education changes lives. But let’s remember that enrollment is not enough; for them to benefit from school, it is essential that children and young people attend classes regularly. Before the pandemic, about 1 million school children were chronically absent. Hopefully the parents who camped out in January will not forget this in March.
